The full story
The website shows what Stichting Veteranen Zaanstad does and what's on the calendar. The board isn't technical, so everything is built for them to post activities, photo albums and newsletters themselves, without a complicated admin area.
The calendar picks up appointments automatically from the foundation's Google Calendar. With a short word in an appointment's title, the board decides whether it appears on the site and whether it's shown large on the home page. Birthdays and meetings stay off.
The design follows the foundation's own style: the navy of the emblem and the gold of the insignia. The text is large and easy to read, also for readers with poor eyesight. On the home page you can flip the veterans' coin, and on the timeline each insignia turns gold as it comes into view.
