VASTIQ

Shows what a home is worth. I made sure homes appear at their real address on the map and that a search is kept.

The full story

VASTIQ is a platform for the Dutch housing market. It estimates what each home is worth, sets the asking price next to it and looks a year ahead. It's built by a small team, in which I handle backend and DevOps: the technology behind the scenes and the servers the platform runs on. I also help with product development: which features come next and how they work.

One example: on the map, homes sometimes showed up hundreds of metres from their real address, because they were placed in the middle of the postcode area. I changed that: every home now sits on its official address point from the national address register, with smart fallbacks when an address isn't found straight away.

The search page also forgot your choices as soon as you reloaded, went back or shared a link. Now the filters live in the web address and are kept. That mattered, because saved searches and price alerts filter on exactly those choices.
